It seems like forever since we gave you an update of what we have been doing, and hasn’t it been a busy time. We have been furiously working away sourcing product and buy kids products online, building the brand through social media and marketing, constantly trying to refine our website offering, and happily packing orders to ship to our wonderful customers (thank you!).
We have also been under enormous pressure due to ill health on both sides of our family which led to our decision to take a short break to get away from it all, and enjoy some downtime with family. As it happened we decided to take a break with my husband’s brother and his wife and child which limited us to the school holiday break given he is a school teacher. The search to find an appropriate property led us to Airbnb which ended up as a wonderful experience and really exceeded our expectations.
Given we live in the suburbs in North-Western Sydney we really wanted to find somewhere that was near the beach that we could enjoy to relax and unwind, but also, not too far to travel to get to. We have a 3 year old terror child (we love you William!) but the prospect of sitting in the car for many hours trying to keep him amused was frankly not a particularly appealing idea. To this end we decided to look for a place on the Central Coast of NSW.
The Central Coast is around 1 hour’s drive from Sydney and is an easy trip straight up the M1 Pacific Motorway that was previously known as the F3 Freeway. It is well known for its beaches, warm climate and laid-back pace of life which makes it perfect for retirees, families and holidaymakers alike. We were looking for a place close to Terrigal which includes suburbs such as Avoca Beach, Macmasters Beach, Killcare and Copacabana.
If you haven’t already had a chance and are looking for temporary accommodation do yourself a favor and go and check out Airbnb. The website is well laid out and easy to navigate and there are plenty of properties on offer just set out your search parameters and away you go. My husband was tasked with finding a property that could fit the 3 of us and my brother in-laws family also so 6 of us in total. He managed to find a fantastic 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house directly across the road from Avoca Beach and a very short 5 minute stroll from the numerous local shops, including a very cute little café.
It was so lovely to get kids storage baskets and enjoy the time with family. We managed to sneak in a photo shoot at the lovely Becker & Co café so if you are in the area and in need of a coffee fix we recommend you drop in. The Barista and café owner Dale makes a mean cup of coffee along with a nice selection of foods and also cold-pressed juices. Here you can see our son William and our niece Neve hamming it up in front of the camera in their new Huxbaby gear. The little munchkins also enjoyed some play time together near the lake which topped off a really enjoyable week filled with sun, sand, beaches and ice cream.
Overall we had a fantastic time away and would highly recommend Avoca Beach and also Airbnb if you are looking for a temporary place to stay. Keep an eye out for more blog updates as we have plenty of things to share with you on the horizon. We would love to hear from you regarding your holiday experiences and recommendations so please feel free to comment and share your thoughts with us here.
